Emily Ann Klotz is well known within the New York courts guardianship system. She has been appointed by the New York State Supreme Court and Surrogate’s Court to act as a Court Evaluator, Guardian-Ad-Litem, Trustee of Supplemental Needs Trusts, Court appointed attorney, and as Guardian, Co-Guardian and/or Successor Guardian.

Emily is often asked to speak on issues of guardianships and elder law. She regularly speaks at various senior centers, caretaker support groups, non-profit organizations and organizations of retired individuals throughout the metropolitan New York City area. She discusses Wills, trusts, Powers of Attorney, health care proxies, Living Wills, guardianship matters and Medicaid eligibility and planning. She has lectured at New York State Bar Association-sponsored events in the areas of Powers of Attorney, health care proxies, Living Wills and Last Wills and Testaments. She has been a lecturer at the Practicing Law Institute’s Annual Elder Law Institute, covering a variety of guardianship issues, including when and if a guardian should consider Medicaid planning and the execution of Wills and medical directives by incapacitated persons.
